Purposes

1. To protect the interests of owners of private property within the boundaries of the Galiano Island Area (which would also include Gossip, Parker, Wise and Lion Islands), as these interests pertain to the preservation of private property rights and property values (both monetary and environmental) under Canadian Statutes and the Common Law.
   
   
2. To work for the recognition of private property rights and property values (both monetary and environmental).
   
   
3. To show concern for the provision of all reasonable services to private lands (ie. ferry transportation, roads and highways, electrical power, water, sewage, garbage disposal, policing, parks, etc.).
   
   
4. To work to ensure due process, and political and fiscal accountability from all levels of government in all matters affecting private property.
   
   
5. To work to ensure that all levies of taxes against private property are fair, reasonable, equitable and kept to a minimum, and are only for things which are the desire of the majority of the private property owners, as expressed through a ballot.
   
   
6. To work in concert with other island ratepayer associations on matters of common concern, so that a strong inter-island organization is created, which will give common voice to our concerns in negotiations with governments.
